Welcome to the 2019 TWNY AWARDS.

First, a little bit of The Who's and why's, and all of that.
We are DWNTWNR, a Weekly Web Talk Show that began its run in June 2018 and we usually sit with a personality related to arts and entertainment, to talk about their life, career and personal little things that people may not know about them. More than Interviews, we simply sit and converse in a very laid back way just to have fun and get to know our guests a little bit more.

DWNTWNR is: Mariana Gomez Linares, our Media Specialist, Luba Parada, our Production Assistant, David Gabriel Moreno, our Legal consultant, Jeanny Arreaza, our Make-Up Artists, Luis Vivas and Victor Romero, our Content Consultants, Aurelina Romero, our Producer, and Agatino Zurría, who pretty much does everything else: PR, Directs, Hosts, Edits, Post-Produces, Advertise and Keeps DWNTWNR alive in the social media.

We have noticed the lack of recognition our own talent has within the state of Florida, so we created this award, pretty much following the steps of other National and International Awards, and taking into consideration that from November to the End of February is the Major Awards Season, we hurried to launch our first Ceremony, which will be held on February 28th.

We sent a note on our social media, for filmmakers to submit their work for the previous year. A week later we were sitting at the Bonjour America Media offices, sorting out all the information we got.

Our idea was to be more inclusive than other awards, so for each category awarded, we open nominations anywhere between 3 and 10. We wanted to be fair and, even if any selection has a lot of subjectivity and personal favoritism, we set up to answer the following questions:
1. What did we like from the film.
2. What could easily compete in the big leagues arena of films.
3. What element stood out in that film.
4. Did the production achieved what they wanted with the story?
5. What could be improved?
6. Which one would we want to see again and even recommend, and why?

Because the process was done with such little time, we got  just  over 15 short films, and only 3 features. So we decided to focus our first edition of the TWNYS on SHORT FILMS.

Please, remember, THE TWNYS is not tied to any Academy of Motion Pictures. It is not The OSCARS. It is an award celebration promoted and given by DWNTWNR to congratulate our peers for the work they did the previous year, and give them an extra push to work on more projects in the future.

Because some of the participants in DWNTWNR are actually filmmakers, and because there is no rule against it, if their project passes the questions we set for every film, they might as well be part of the nominees, having the opportunity, as any other filmmaker, to win an award.

This is the first year of the TWNYS, and in future editions, we will adjust things to make it better, but for now just remember: THIS IS AN AWARD CREATED TO CELEBRATE, HAVE FUN AND CONGRATULATE THE GREAT WORK OF FILMMAKERS.

So we invite you to join us in this month long celebration which will come to its conclusion on Thursday February 28, when we unveil the winners.

Let's all enjoy this.

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NOMINEES.
