The TWNYS 2019 JURY HAS GIVEN ITS VEREDICT

The TWNYS is an Award to recognize independent filmmakers and their work, created by the Founder of DWNTWNR, Agatino Zurría, and his co-producers Aurelina Romero, Luba Parada and Luis Vivas. Because they also submitted their productions and were nominated accordingly in the same spirit of Inclusion, they could not be the ones voting for the TWNYS. So they looked for professionals in different areas of filmmaking (and outside of it), who did not have any connection to any of the films, in order to cast their votes.

Here are the people who participated as Jury.

Rosalinda Rodriguez
Actress

ROSALINDA RODRIGUEZ, ACTRESS, ACTING TEACHER.
Born in Mexico, Rosalinda's success began in Miami, with her numerous participations in Telenovelas and Series like:  El Cuerpo del Deseo, La Casa de Al Lado, La Revancha, and Mariposa de Barrio, among others. She is also known in the International stage scene with her starring roles in plays by Federico García Lorca and Josep María Miró. Currently, she is performing her own play "La Fiesta de la Friducha" written with the collaboration of her director Lilliam Vega. 

Beatriz Castillo
Actress

BEATRIZ CASTILLO, ACTRESS
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Beatriz Castillo was named Miss Zulia and had the chance to travel around the world before she started as part of the internationally renown theater troupe Rajatabla. She has collaborated in numerous theater plays and short films in New York City, where she currently resides.

Carla Forte
Filmmaker

CARLA FORTE, DIRECTOR, SCREENWRITER, PRODUCER
Born in Venezuela, Carla's career has jumped to the forefront of filmmaking in South Florida with her company BISTOURY PHYSICAL THEATER & FILM, which has allowed her to produce experimental shorts like INTERRUPTA and RESET, as well as features like HISTORIAS DE LA URBE  and ANN, and the Documentary THE HOLDER. She is currently working on her next feature.

Alexey Taran
Filmmaker, Cinematographer, Choreographer

ALEXEY TARAN, FILMMAKER, EDITOR, CINEMATOGRAPHER, CHOREOGRAPHER, PRODUCER
Born in Cuba, Taran is a consummate physical performer, whose choreographies have been presented in numerous theater festivals around the world. He has also worked as cinematographer and producer of most of Carla Forte's directing efforts, co-directing IMAGINARIUM, and Producing, Editing  ANN, RESET, THE HOLDERS, INTERRUPTA and HISTORIAS DE LA URBE, as well as his own projects on the stage.

Juan Carlos Pinedo
Actor

JUAN CARLOS PINEDO, ACTOR

Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Juancarlos Pinedo has acted in numerous short films (COLD, DINNER IS SERVED, GRACE PERIOD, INSIDE, OASIS, IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT A FILM) and had a role in the Frances McDormand's starring Mini-Series OLIVE KITTERIDGE.

Yoan Yabor
Composer

YOAN YABOR, COMPOSER

Yoan Yabor is a Cuban Composer and Producer based in New York City. He started learning guitar when he was 6 in his hometown Guanabacoa, Cuba. After he graduated as a Classical Guitar Professor at Music Conservatory Amadeo Roldan in 2003, he began to perform with several bands in the island playing genres such as Flamenco, Salsa, Jazz, Rock, Electronic music and so on. After a period of years performing, Yabor decided to produce music inside the Studio. He started to compose Music for several tv shows, documentaries and short Films such as Camionero directed by Sebastian Milo. In 2012 he moved to United States and in 2013 , he started working with Jose Luis Revelo, a Grammy nominated composer and together created The Sound of Two, a Music Production Team which produced original compositions for famous brands in US and Latin America such as AT&T, Golf Channel, Weather Channel, Google, HBO, Unefon,Univision , and so on. In 2017, they created Nomaada, a musical project that looks to produce their own artistic act.

Fanny Vera graduated from UNICA UNIVERSITY in Maracaibo, Venezuela, in Mass Communications. She has been working as a Social Media Marketeer and has her own Pod Cast and Printed Newspaper in North Carolina, dedicated to the Latin Community.
